Alan J. Paduano, M.S., LMBT. Alan began working in the healing professions in 1987 where he graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pittsburg State University in 1992. In 1994 he began his career as a bodywork therapist specializing in Craniosacral Therapy, Sports Massage, and Injury Rehabilitation Massage.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST), a gentle, non-invasive therapy done fully clothed on a massage table. Using gentle techniques, Craniosacral Therapy is effective in releasing restrictions in connective tissue throughout the body, with the goal of optimizing the balanced, harmonious flow of craniosacral fluid in the brain and spinal cord. CST is an excellent therapy for all stages of life. It has been shown to be very effective in supporting healthy pregnancy and birth, and assisting in the recovery from difficult births for mother and child. CST has also been shown to be an effective therapy for children with learning disorders and difficulties on the autism spectrum. Especially helpful for recovering from impact injuries (such as car accidents), CST is also a very effective therapy for post-surgical recovery; headaches; and hip, back, and neck pain. And finally, when seniors enter the end of life, Craniosacral Therapy can provide comfort and relaxation to help ease this transition.
Therapeutic Bodywork- Alan's other specialties are in the field of Therapeutic Bodywork; specifically Sportsmassage, and Injury Rehabilitation Massage.
Sportsmassage focuses on assisting athletes in recovery, injury prevention, and injury rehabilitation. The repetitive strain of training and competing can take a toll on muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joint capsules. Sportsmassage assists in recovery, helps prevent injuries by treating microtrauma in the muscles, and assists in recovery from injuries when they do occur. Throughout his career, Alan has accumulated extensive experience working with athletes and sports injuries. He has worked with Olympic pole vaulters at the University of Kansas, and professional and amateur runners and bikers in Western North Carolina.
Injury Rehabilitation Massage uses specific massage techniques to assist and support the body in healing from soft tissue injury. The soft tissues of the body include muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue. Pain syndromes of the low back, hips, shoulders, neck, jaw, and head often result from injuries to soft tissue. Injury Rehabilitation Massage is often extremely effective in relieving pain and restoring normal functioning. Alan has worked extensively with the everyday muscle injuries associated with: low back and hip pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, and headaches.
